I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    1. Huge company with lots of scope for collaboration and seeking opportunities
    2. Clear message and vision from Chief Executive
    3. Reward package in line with norms

    Cons

    1. Individuals can feel lost in giant machine due to nature of matrix management - more meetings than action
    2. Chief Executives message and vision gets massaged and diluted by other management layers leading to less clear and sometimes conflicting objectives
    3. Change not as faced paced as it could be due to inefficiencies in management structure

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your subordinates to take the correct action, abandon culture or meetings, teleconferences and pointless reporting and watch the performance improve dramatically

I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of career challenges, great technologies, ability to work and get global experience. Some great people. Clear global direction.

    Cons

Highly political in the UK, if you fit in and do well, but many others are ignored some of whom are much more capable but don't have the right alliances. Local execution of global policies is slow and poorly done. Change management is not considered important so many employees have been lost along the way. Too many senior managers have been in the same job for too long. Work life balance is poor - too much travel and too much expected from a few.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a serious look at the UK management team and structure - it is stale with a high risk of self serving decision making. No one should be in the same post for more than 5 years. You have great offers but they won't be well executed because of intransigency.

    Pros

    1. The culture is a positive, inclusive and encouraging.

    2. Compensation is in line with the industry and bonus opportunities are real and tangible.

    3. The company is very relevant to the 21st century and growing in the key markets so a great place to further a career.

    Cons

    1. As a large company working remotely and collaboratively is a constant challenge.

    2. As a fast paced environment that can be difficult to adjust to for some.

    3. Due to working across different time zones work-life balance can be tricky to achieve

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure change is not for change sake and has time to bed in to business as usual.

I have been working at Schneider Electric

    Pros

There are a lot of really good people at Schneider, you can meet people that could be lifelong friends. There is a strong culture of personal and career development, along with the multiple business units, there will be opportunity for advancement, especially if you are mobile.

    Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy that can make things take forever to get done. The recent financial performance has not kept up with key competitors, putting pressure on employees to do more with less. I have seen a lot of long time employees take jobs with competitors in the past 3 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Digital Customer Experience is not improving. Every transformation of the website has made it worse. Take a look at some of our distributor's sites, they are best in class.
