I have been working at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people I work with are great! The day goes by fast, we get lots of education, gratis and consistent hours with commission but do get bonuses.

    Cons

The discount isn't the greatest of a cosmetic retail job, and working retail you will have to work most important holidays so that can really be a bummer. Full time hours are really more for management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be nice to have a better work/family balance.

    Cons

Didn't have a specific start date, hours and insurance info wasn't discussed at orientation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discuss 401K, talk about insurance, and typical work weeks for positions.

I have been working at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Gratis. The gratis is ridiculously AWESOME. So much stuff.
    - Employee Discount
    - You get to see famous people a lot/ formerly famous.
    - Fun atmosphere.
    - You are encouraged to have fun doing your job and not worry about numbers TOO much

    Cons

    - When it gets crazy... it gets CRAZY in the store. You have to do clients complexion, or eyes, or ext, in an unreasonable about of time.
    - late shifts.
    - when a Sephora is understaffed they make you work some crazy hours (ex. you work 9 P.M-2 A.M and then have to wake up for work at 10 A.M) so work life balance can be come no work like balance
-Clients can sometimes be VERY picky, and thats fine if they're willing to learn, some clients aren't like that and they don't care what you say, they want it their way. ex. Client has pink undertone, wants yellow. Looks wonderful, she doesn't think so, so you put yellow on her and it's too yellow.
    - There can be a lot of misunderstanding, and sometimes miscommunication

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When there is an opening in the store, let your cast members know about it... If it;s for full time only, let them know because I am sure some would quit their other job, focus more on work or whatever it takes to get the position. So communicate please.

I worked at Sephora full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked at Sephora during college, and it was by far the best job that I've ever had. Super fun and up-beat company. They really carry out their core values on all ends of the work chain. Perfect work life balance and there are tons of room for advancement, amazing perks including FREE MAKEUP!

    Cons

I honestly don't have any cons. The staff was mostly female, but the managers did not tolerate any drama, gossip, or shadiness which was surprising.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My management was AMAZING! She allowed for a great work-life balance, a fun and drama free atmosphere and an awesome place to work for. Did not tolerate drama or mess

I have been working at Sephora full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

So many freebies and perks it was unbelievable. So much training and product knowledge from high end vendors. I was able to speak freely and knowledgeably about the product because I was able to try it out. I had bags and bags of product from all of the "gratis" and contests I won.

    Cons

On your feet a lot, sometimes you needed to stay late due the high volume, and I hated inventory.
