    Pros

Large company with lots of opportunity to travel. Good graduate teaching. High level of knowledge in experienced personnel to learn from.

    Cons

Promotions given on length of service rather than ability. Favourites are given opportunities to develop and the choice of projects. If experience isn't gained in an area within the first year it is difficult to gain experience as you are not put on projects you can't contribute to immediately. Annual reviews are a paper exercise with little or no effect.

    Advice to Management

Look at the long term prospects and careers of the employees rather than the singular project targets. Procedural requirements are overkill and hinder performance.

    Pros

Decent pay...not outstanding, Not much else to say......not a bad place to work, but certainly not a great place.

    Cons

lack of flexible hours for leadership groups / limited holidays / non-paid funeral leave / lack of raises for leadership groups / treated same as the "grunts" / communication is lacking

    Advice to Management

Treat your leadership groups (supervisors, planning, etc) as professionals not as grunts. Also, need more visits from off-site management....let us know you're interested & involved in what is going on at the site.....don't wait till you're the bearer of bad news.

    Pros

Overall, the other Directors were competent

    Cons

The executive leadership was poor. Very condescending and dictatorial to work with on a daily basis

    Advice to Management

Your people are your only asset, treat them fairly and with respect and your company will flourish.

    Pros

People on the project level were generally good to work with. Pay was decent, hours were good. I enjoyed working here.

    Cons

Management on the top level was bad. Not a good situation for those having to report directly to these guys...

Also, on the project side of things, there wasn't much to go to around 2012.

    Advice to Management

Not much to give here, other than I'm glad I didn't have to deal with you. You got out and made your money while you could...good on you.

    Pros

It was a great place to work. I worked with them for over 8 years. The Project teams were professional, Good salaries, Good opportunities

    Cons

Upper Management / Corporate was short sighted and did not reacts soon enough to keep the Denver office occupied with contract work. Another Denver Engineering Office (Fluor, Bechtel, now Shaw) lost to management inability to actual do what their title say.

    Advice to Management

It is sad to realize that a company with such a legacy (Stone & Webster) could be managed as just a playing piece of The board game "Monopoly"
