Good solid company. They treat you well

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Snap-on full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThings get really pretty good around here about 8 years ago when the board kicked out the good old boys and put in some people and processes that really made the company successful. The environment is nice, although the people are not ones I would hang out with, but that is because they are not my type, not because they are bad. They are very good with flex time and they don't make you think that you are doing a bad job if you need to stay home to tend a sick kid. Benefits are pretty good and pay is good too.

ConsNot a lot of room for advancement. Most people who work here tend to stick around a long time.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay for employee education. Even if it is not in the employees area of work, it can make them feel better about themselves and can also make that person more valuable even if they education does not directly impact.

General Warehousing experience, very busy environment

Order Processing Associate (Former Employee)
Crystal Lake, IL (US)

I worked at Snap-on full-time for more than a year

ProsTons of overtime, money to be made if you're willing to put in the time.

ConsHave to start with a temp agency, getting hired is very difficult, as they rarely hire.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to hire on more full-time employees, and you will have a happier warehouse staff. It's very discouraging to do the same work for a lot less money than the select few that are hired.

Senior management only cares about their bonuses... at any cost to employees

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Snap-on full-time for more than 10 years

ProsYour co-workers, benefits, and the facility itself. The people who work "in the trenches" really care about their work, customers, Franchisees (Dealers) and each-other. The technology group is always improving systems so it makes it easier to keep up with workload.

ConsSenior management will do anything to cut expenses to get themselves bonuses. They are bleeding the company and ruining morale. Employees want to collaborate more with others but management only gives lip service to collaboration because it takes away from employee's ability to take on more work as they continue to downsize staff. Management doesn't trust/respect employees enough to work from home and flex schedules more.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop laying off employees, ruining their lives and then giving yourself high salaries and bonuses.

Company preaches its mission and values but doesn't follow it's own policies. Bad ethics in my opinion.

ProsGreat company, decent benefits, good people (mostly)..

ConsPicks and chooses who rules apply to. Corporate HR has some unethical people working there.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhy have policies in place when you don't follow them for all employees? (Even when the policy states that you do.)
