I have been working at SunTrust full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and bonuses if you excel in your position. You can expect raises, promotions, and recognition if you do a great job.

    Cons

Branch managers make all the difference if you are a personal banker. If they think it's an office job, or they are jerks, the whole branch will tank and there will be a revolving door of new bankers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't give branch managers personal sales goals. Let them lead the branches activity and leave the profitable growth to the bankers.

    Pros

My manager was very flexible with my hours. I am a full time student and I work another job, so he was very accomdating to me.

    Cons

The compensation to work ratio isn't the best but that's with allot of jobs. The benefits are good, there is tuition reimbursement, which is just what it says, they will give back what you pay out.

I have been working at SunTrust part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The training is great, the company itself has a good environment where they really care about customers and employees.

    Cons

Working at the branch level I had to work with a lot of lazy people who are all about getting a sale but won't put the work in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people with better work etiquette. Better bonuses wouldn't hurt for the little person of course.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

No cost training offered to broaden your horizons. Good benefits regarding health insurance and 401K with company match.

    Cons

Unfortunaly the cons outweigh the pros from my perspective. During reviews they'll only award a max pay increase of 2%. I've worked more and have been more efficient & productive than all other 25 employees in my group yet we all get the same pay raise. When being promoted, the company will only allow a max 8% increase on your salary. This is a huge red flag because I earned the promotion for performance and work ethic. According to the company salary structure; I should have gotten an increase of approximately 16K just to get the "minimum" they claim they'd pay an employee with the job grade I was offered. However, my pay increase was barely 4K.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees fairly!!! Especially if they go above and beyond and mean good to the future of your company. I find it very disturbing that a loyal employee who genuinely earned a promotion and was able to skip 4 job grades wont be offered the same salary as someone being hired from the streets for the same position. Along with me, you've lost good employees just because other companies were willing to pay us what we are worth. Continue to nickel and dime your employees and you will be left with people that are just looking for a "job" so they can pay their bills and dont care about how well the job is done. With this philosophy you'll end up with the worst in the workforce and will always remain behind the Big 10.

    Pros

The company has great benefits. There is opportunity to move up if you're willing to relocate

    Cons

I was in three different departments that were downsized. The company is becoming leaner, outsourcing, and eliminating redundancies, They may be preparing for a merge.
