    I worked at SunTrust

    Pros

Strong commitment to clients. Good work and life balance. Independent work encouraged with little micro management. May develop good friends.

    Cons

Atlanta makes the decisions for all markets without knowledge affecting clients. Initiatives change direction often without clarity of who is in charge or if one hand is talking to the other. Little advancement and same with compensation regardless of performance. Unrealistic goals mandated without any basis on market. Networking is critical to continued employment: staying under the radar is certain death.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decisions need to be more market based. Incorporate feedback from client facing and operations staff. If authority is questioned, there's probably a valid reason: listen, don't punish.

    Pros

    SunTrust is a good company.

    Cons

    SunTrust provides very poor training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Turnover is very expensive. Please train your employees better. You will retain employees and not incur the costs of new employee training.

I have been working at SunTrust

    Pros

Close knit teams. Technical teams drive towards producing well thought out and designed solutions to line of business needs.

    Cons

Senior technical leadership is from a technical background. This causes mixed priorities in the technical direction of the project delivery teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your subordinates and value their opinion.

    I worked at SunTrust

    Pros

The company has substantial resources, is in appealing markets, and has a strong brand. Overall, SunTrust does a great job of executing their mission of helping people and institutions prosper.

    Cons

Retail banking/ financial services can be a challenging profession due to corporate greed and intense pressure to increase profitability.

Employees are disposal. Restructuring could very quickly have you looking for a more stable profession.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More consistency is needed. It seemed the corporate philosophy changed every two years. This can be extremely confusion to a seasoned employee.

Executive management needs to do a better job communicating from the top down. Get off your throne and get down in the ditches.

    Pros

pretty good pay when we were getting bonuses for our performance.

    Cons

upper management wanted calls to be filled with quality but wanted you to hurry up and answer the next call. The agents are rated by the customers but the decisions on claims are made by someone else and if the customer doesn't like the response they will give you a falling grade because of policies out off your control. They are also outsourcing India.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to compensate the agents better and you will get better performance. Maybe bring back the $400 bonus for performance
