I have been working at SunTrust full-time

    Pros

Benefits are great. Reimbursement is fast. Flexible opportunities for time off. Bonuses are a good amount and are always paid when they're suppose to be.

    Cons

Long hours sometimes, so it's hard to have time at home. Not much room for promotions. You must do a lot of selling which can be hard if you're not good with talking to strangers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I had any advice, it would be to get to know each worker in your area and help them to grow personally and within in the business so they feel as though they have some worth in the company.

I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people I worked with were wonderful, caring individuals. I absolutely loved meeting the clients and helping them, even when a sale was not made.

    Cons

The focus has gone from putting client first (which they still say they do), to putting the sales first. The pressure coming down from management is all about the sales! And the expectations are unrealistic for the most part! The incentives are great, but only of you are perfect. Pay increases are a joke!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come spend an honest day IN the branch and see how well your staff really does! The people you have working for the bank are extraordinary and should not be tossed aside and treated/threatened the way they are! You are losing very good talent with the decisions you are making and they are going to work with the competition, and take your clients with them!

I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits and pay are pretty good. MOST people are good to work with. Working environment is pleasant and corporate office downtown offers a lot of nice benefits as far as location goes.

    Cons

Was laid off then I applied and was offered another position 6 months later, then laid off again 3 months after that due to reduction in force. Really makes you think twice about the loyalty to the employees - there is none! No assistance in finding another position within the company - you either apply like everyone else or take your severance and go. Nothing done within HR to help place you or give you preference before an outside hire. In this sense the company lacks compassion for its employees and would rather pay you to leave than keep you. Seriously left a very bad taste in my mouth being laid off twice in a year!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Career placement assistance should be given to those employees that are a casualty to RIFs. To bring back a former employee, only to turn around and lay them off again 3 months later is really bad business. I turned down a good job offer to come back only to be unemployed by you a second time. There is no compassion or loyalty to employees that have give many years of service to the bank. Seems as if you would rather let go of a 30 year employee and hire outside rather than placing them in another position. Makes no sense! Costs more in the long run and is not of benefit to the employee or the bank.
