    Pros

You should know someone in the higher management then you will progress otherwise you will keep trying with no luck

    Cons

Only few people at the top of the company doing what they want to do and do not care about the rest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

NOC plays a major part in customer satisfaction and has always been ignored from any kind of recognition. Listen to the problems and issues of the NOC analysts and give them more resources and facilities and recognize their efforts so they can do better.

I worked at Sungard Availability Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits, good pay, good job prospects,

    Cons

SunGard has I think 5,000 employees, you could be a number, a cog, some people who work in sales are very clicky, earn a lot but have huge egos and act like children. They are 50 year old men acting like men in their 20's boasting about how much their house contents is insured for! SunGard staff are very clicky, so the people who are not in the click or if you not in the group, then your work life can get very depressing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of some of the all the clicks. They ruin what could be a nice place to work,

    Pros

Individual people can be really excellent to work with.

    Cons

The culture at this company is not good. Nobody wants to take accountability, particularly in the upper echelons, executive management likes to try to pass off reorganizations as actual problem-solving, we are saddled with a president and CEO who is incapable of turning the company around, and there is no real opportunity to advance. Everybody gets stuck at this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change executive management now. This should have happened years ago.

I have been working at Sungard Availability Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are an incompetent middle manager, you will definitely go very far at this company, especially if your mentor is an equally incompetent Director or VP.
If you are as equally skilled at shirking responsibility as you are at taking credit for the stellar results achieved by the team you manage (when you decide on those rare occasions not to work from home in your pajamas), you will go far with this company.
If you are a misogynistic follower of radical Islam and believe that the women who work for you should not voice their opinions, you will go far with this company.

Nothing like working with a cross-functional team on a Thursday and then learning the next Monday that 75% of the people you just worked with were terminated the previous Friday.
It is just so great to continually be overworked because the managers who are supposed to be supporting and helping us meet our organizational goals are on back to back "productivity" conference calls four hours a day at least.

    Cons

There are over fifty persons who have titles like VP of Sales, SVP of Sales, EVP of Sales and yet each has fewer than five people reporting to them, or should I say "him", as this company absolutely refuses to promote more than a token handful of females into upper management. Customers are leaving left and right because their Sales person changes with the seasons.
Middle and upper management is entrenched and settled in for a long drawn out battle, which they expect to win since they have been with the company long enough to know where the bodies are buried.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting radical Islamic beliefs...women are just as competent (often more) as the men you are hiring and going out golfing with (for team building of course, in the middle of a busy work day, leaving the non-favored to pick up the slack).
Stop trying to please everyone by setting conflicting organizational goals and only telling certain people what they are. You should not tell one business unit to tell a customer that they cannot have a specific service or product until they pay for it and then tell a different business unit that the customer must always be given what they want, when they want it, or they might take their business elsewhere.
News flash!!! Customers ARE taking their business elsewhere, because of this company's managerial incompetence.
