    Cons

Hours, I don't have many Cons on this company because I like the environment of it but it would be nice to have more hours because of the amount of money were getting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at TJ Maxx full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My location had a great team. Easy scheduling for time off and a little extra discount on top of their great deals!

    Cons

Starting at minimum wage makes it hard to increase your pay at a fast rate. They can only do % based increases once per year.

I worked at TJ Maxx full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Although a retail management position, still able to have some work/life balance. Worked in multiple locations in NJ. Management teams in each store were great to work with. Always easy to switch schedules when needed. Stock room staff to process shipment to get ready for the floor. Stockroom staff would help run merchandise to floor if available.

    Cons

Six days a week work weeks after Thanksgiving. Depending on the one day off a week, might be 9 or 10 days in a row.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing!

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

"There is a lot of team work. Coworkers are amazing. getting to meet people from all walks of life is really amazing."

    Cons

"There is no consistency in terms of what one is supposed to do on a day -to- day basis . paying people minimum wage doesn't encourage employees at all. Discount sucks. Rarely recognize those employees giving there best."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patience is key here. It's an okay place to learn how to deal with people.

I enjoyed this as a first job, but I dont feel there is much room for advancement within the company.

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Most of the employees were nice. The store itself was nice and big.

    Cons

I don't see a lot of growth within the company, especially if you don't get enough credit applications. I don't really think the company cares all that much about their employees. You will literally get yelled at constantly if you don't get enough people to sign up for the credit card.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like people. Maybe then you wouldn't have such a high turnover rate. Stop hiring so many people and distribute those hours to the people you already have.

    Pros

    - Dress code and hours are flexible
    - Co-workers are amazing

    Cons

    - Verbal abuse from customers DAILY
    - Managers tell you how to handle something one way, then don't back you up in front of the customer when you do it
    - Only 10% off employee discount

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Back your employees when it comes to nasty customers. We deal with a lot.

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Part time, easy, flexible, mindless.

    Cons

Boring, negative & condescending attitudes from co-workers and [some of] management, inconsistent enforcement of policies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please make sure you are consistent about not only informing employees of what the policies are but also enforcing them. Sometimes the smallest discrepancies completely change an employees opinion of a job/company. For Example, one manager tells an employee that the dress code is interpreted to mean one thing and then another manager yells at the same employee for wearing what the first manager said was acceptable. This causes the employee to start questioning management and their policies.
