I have been working at TRW Automotive as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good people, acceptable work environment.

    Cons

Typical of large companies, there is a struggle between departments, conflicting agendas and miscommunications, and an inefficiency that comes with the "system".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at TRW Automotive full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

In my area, I receive a good salary for the work that I do, competitve with other industries. I work in a good facility. My co-workers and my team have been very stable, having been largely intact for fifteen years. We are given significant autonomy.

    Cons

While corporate top managment must be given very high marks for solid financial decisions and more than adequate financial preparation for future, some operational and human resource decisions appear to be shortsighted. The CEO is very autocratic and surrounds himself with yes men. The corporate level appears to be primarily motivated by fear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't shoot the messenger. The best manager and employees are those willing to tell you the truth even when it is unpleasant to hear. Allowing other ideas than your own is using the strength of your people to its fullest.

    Pros

    None! None! None! Slave drivers!

    Cons

Union is weak, a lot of rats. Slave drivers! Pay is horrible! They make you work 19 days straight including holidays ie... Good Friday, Memorial Day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't treat your employees like slaves.

    Pros

Unionized location, good people to work beside

    Cons

Management is out of touch, focus on quantity over quality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start focusing on quality so that long term relationships can be maintained with suppliers. Start treating your employees like they matter and your attendance issue might dissapear.

    Pros

Good place to work to learn how to develop global communication skills and manage overseas suppliers.

    Cons

Recent downgrade in employee benefits has caused an exodus of employees over the past few years.
Employee compensation (base salaries) could be better. Communication problems within the organization.

I have been working at TRW Automotive

    Pros

The long time employees remember when it was locally owned.

    Cons

Leadership views long term employees as easily dismissed. This observation comes from seeing 20-40 year veteran engineers that cared deeply about the company & products being walked out like untrustworthy criminals.
