    I worked at Tech Data

    Pros

Lot of flexibility and decisions are taken quickly. Flat hierarchy in the organization and highly dedicated people who are working hard.

    Cons

Despite good quarter results no increase of salary. Communication to employees is weak and too much focus on short term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Earlier communication to the employees will help.

I worked at Tech Data (more than a year)

    Pros

Lots of parking; on-site canteen (though stock is limited).

    Cons

Politics are rife; management style is all about negative pressure rather than fostering collaboration and pride in your work.
Innovation will not happen as there is no budget available for anything but the most "smash and grab" projects.
Key man dependencies have been allowed to emerge all over the shop - management has not wanted to put aside the budget to address this or take the time to reduce reliance, so that is a time bomb waiting to go off.
Personality traits which would not be tolerated elsewhere have gone untamed, since those key men have management over a barrel; that's affected the culture of the place.
You should also know: maternity is only 6 weeks at full pay, followed by 9 months of statutory.

    I worked at Tech Data

    Pros

Involvement in cutting edge technology via vendors. Involvement in a global organisation. Working in a very competitive commercial operation encourages you to be imaginative in solutions.

    Cons

Cost is always an issue when looking at solutions. Constant reinventing the wheel because a lack of investment in the IT infrastructure mean the same problems occur repeatedly but there is no capital investment for a permanent solution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the capabilities of the internal IT team and utilise them effectively. Invest in the infrastructure to allow the IT professionals to have the opportunity to develop in a role.

I have been working at Tech Data full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company. Lots of exposure and a lot of opportunity!

    Cons

I hear of other companies that truly reward their people for doing their jobs and more so. It seems often times here, once you start really doing well, they change something so you aren't paid as much and aren't as successful, to make you work harder for less...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wish management had better visions towards rewarding hard working employees and wanting their employees happy and excited to come to work.

    Cons

Salaries are really poor compare to its competitors. Lots of work, lack of payment!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are not very consistent with payment ranges. They usually wait untill the last minute to offer a better salary when it is already too late!
