Former Employee – worked at The Children's Place for more than a year
Pros – Great Sales Associates
If you enjoy customer interaction this will be a great job for you
Discount insensitives are good
Cons – The pay does not equal the amount of work you put in, they will work you until you want to quit for as little pay as they can get. It is hard to work for this company if you have a family as the hours are crazy and you will definitely be pulling some overnights. Very little upward mobility.
Advice to Senior Management – I would advise management to be more aware of their employees moral and overall health. While this is a discount retailer sometimes you need to focus more on the customers than the money as in the long term you will gain more income.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at The Children's Place full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pros were some of the co-workers were great to work with. Great quality of children's clothing. Store had great sales for clothes for children , newborn to about 12 to 13 years old.
Cons – Employee discount wasnt that great. Customers would have better discounts then the employees. Managers didn't know how to manage time very well.
Advice to Senior Management – Advice to management dont make your employees do anything you wouldn't do!!

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place part-time for more than a year
Pros – Great place to start if you have no experience in retail.
Cons – You will not get a raise because the company is very cheap. You get a lot of corporate visits. Management team is constantly changing. They are always hiring new people and firing the best employees for the dumbest reasons. You will NOT get any hours and everything is based off of favoritism.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop looking for all the negatives and focus on the positives and look for better alternatives to improve customer satisfaction! Also, the management team needs to learn how to communicate with their employees.

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Depending on the store there are great customers and great fellow employees.
Cons – Company is clueless as what it takes to train and keep employees. Expected to have no life and drop everything for TCP. Pay more to new hires than promotes. Very un-organized, send through info at the last minute and expect you to drop everything and get it done then with no additional payroll.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop overhauling the stores and consider starting with a management change, at the very top!

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place full-time for more than a year
Pros – Team environment on store level.
Salary and bonus.
Cons – Payroll cut hugely in comparison to last year's budgets. An outlet store cannot run on 2 person coverage. Customers are leaving because they don't want to wait in the long line. Shoplifting is increasing because theives are discovering the lack of coverage. Impossible to do floorset, markdowns, process shipment, provide excellent service, LP awareness on 2 person coverage. Qaulity staff leaves due to lack of hours. Current DSM is unprofessional and rude. Direct quotes include "this store is disgusting", "that's the worst display I've ever seen ", "I hate it", "when you don't make sales plan, it is like taking food out of my child's mouth."
Advice to Senior Management – Treat others how you want to be treated.
Stop with the favoritism.
Stop micro-managing.
Stop cutting payroll budgets. You are actually losing money in doing so.
Start acknowledging for a job well done.
Don't allow professional bullying to take place.

Former Employee – worked at The Children's Place
Pros – Has good benefits, most employees are very friendly to one another.
Cons – Often times, it's takes a while to get information from upper management while it's so easy for them to demand the work they need.

Former Employee – worked at The Children's Place part-time
Pros – VERY flexible scheduling! Retail experience.
Cons – Had to brown-nose the manager for more hours. Manager was very bi-polar. They would criticize employees on the work they do, even if they never trained us properly to do it their way to begin with. Training was too short and didn't take time to train more. The lead they had training the new employees was rude, haughty, prideful, and often gave attitude when you didn't know how to do anything. The mgmt would tell employees not to talk during their shift but we would find them in the back chit chatting about their weekend and men.
Advice to Senior Management – If you're gonna make someone a lead, promote someone who is personable and do their job well instead of thinking they're better than everyone. Also, mgmt should be fair, and make their employees enjoy working with/for them.
