    Pros

Good company to work for. Flexible working. Ability to contribute to change in the team. Good bonuses and pay rises.

    Cons

Seemed to be a lot of promoting to senior management of internal staff that were there the longest and were "yes" men rather than the most qualified.

    Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing. Look at hiring for senior roles outside of the organisation rather than just hire those that are willing to agree with the loudest voice

    Pros

It's all about what position you're in. Specialty underwriting is very interesting. Many opportunities to promote. Many of my coworkers started off in service ops and promoted up to underwriting. Best in industry training program for underwriting. If you become an underwriter here, don't be afraid of specialty opportunities like Tech and Life Science, Sales UW, etc.

    Cons

It's a large company so it can be political and bureaucratic at times - to be expected and no worse than any other conpany I've worked at.

    Advice to Management

Salaries are good, but some competitors offer more to experienced professionals. Increase salaries to keep more experienced talent.

    Pros

Excellent training program & great benefits. If you are someone who wants a stable job, consistent hours, and being a part of The Hartford's awesome history/reputation, this is the place for you

    Cons

unfortunately, it has the lowest pay in the industry, hence the extremely high turnover.

    Advice to Management

More in regards to marketing - it's very difficult to understand people screaming to stop sending them "junk mail", most of the time, you don't even have a chance to take them off the solicitation

    Pros

Great people to work, very motivated and dedicated, but slightly conservative in outlook. Good salary overall and opportunities to advance in the Home office.

    Cons

Can be very high pressure, "non-stop" in the call center operations. Very "corporate" environment.

    Advice to Management

Allow for and appreciate greater individual differences and management styles.

    Cons

None at all. None that I can think of offhand what so ever. I have not had any negative experiences working here at all.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

    - Great benefits and ample vacation days
    - For the entry level job I had it was a great starting salary
    - So many resources to build upon your professional and personal development

    Cons

    - Everyone is very political and passive aggressive when it comes to giving feedback
    - There are too many unnecessary leadership layers that distract people from getting work done
    - A lot of the older team members are very pessimistic and just working to retire

    Advice to Management

    - Unfortunately The Hartford isn't competitive enough to retain young talent because the infrastructure and company culture is too mature and not flexible. Once you start to become more flexible you will retain more talent.
