    Pros

    Broad exposure to lots of different work. Good place to learn a lot, fast. Consultants care about growth and development of analysts. I liked my team. Allowed flexible schedules and working arrangements. Casual attire.

    Cons

    A lot of turnover. People kept on leaving, and were often not replaced. Too much work for too few analysts. Very few consultants started at the company and worked their way up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more people. Better training of junior staff to reach consulting level skills.

    Pros

    In theory, the company's org structure allows its employees to be exposed to other projects if they are considering pursuing their careers with other departments.

    Generous time off; benefits are ok, not too impressive.

    Tuition reimbursement (depends on your manager's approval)

    Opportunities to work from home for some

    Good work-life balance (depends on your role though)

    Cons

    Company sends good messages to its employees (for example that it supports their professional development), but in reality it all comes down to who your manager is. Unfortunately some employees are too much at mercy of their supervisors, and the senior management doesn't do anything about it. Not surprising that a lot of talented people left recently.

    Salaries are not overly generous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Company should implement 360 reviews. Currently performance reviews are top-down or horizontal. I strongly believe that employees should have ability to review their managers as well, and feel safe about it.

    C-suite executives should be aware about what happens below the level of their direct reports.

    * Decent pay for a call center
    * Paid holidays and a good amount of PTO time to start

    Cons

    * Unrealistic views of how much team members can get done
    * Hiring managers from outside the company rather than from within
    * No real training plan to teach new leaders how to manage time, coach their peers, or address the CSRs
    * Leadership is more interested in numbers and trends than their employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take the opinions of others seriously rather than always looking for the easiest way to make something disappear. Truly listen to others rather than silencing or stifling their views. This business can be made or broken by your front-line employees, so don't forget that.

    Good people and awesome place to learn amongst very talented proffessionals.

    Cons

    Working as benefit analysts, we do not have any benefit in what so ever. Promotions are given based on education and degrees.

    Make a minimum effort to keep your employees happy, we are young but not stupid. Degrees are not everything, promotions must be based on our personal and team performance.

    I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great place to start out and gain new skills.
    Good exam support and general training.
    Highly intelligent and motivated co-workers who are willing to train on the job.
    Fun office environment. Lots of events to take part in, and friendly co-workers.
    Flexible hours; doesn't matter when you leave/come in, as long as you meet your billable goals.
    Pay is so-so. Easy to advance in pay quickly if you can pass exams, but pay levels off once you are designated.

    Cons

    No work life balance. Expect minimum 45 hours per week, sometimes 60 or more.
    Unrealistic billable hour targets.
    Demotivating, because performance considered high elsewhere is only average here.
    Very stressful due to competing client demands, need to balance your time.
    Strong push to reduce hours to meet budgets, but very difficult to do the work in this time, which creates stress.
    Steep learning curve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Your employees are your biggest asset. Stop trying to squeeze every hour you can from them until they are forced to leave, and start thinking long-term. You spend so much time and money training them, but then create an environment that very few can stay in long-term.

    Pros

    Insightful perspective into the specific industries you're working for, can be very interesting. The culture is supportive where most people are willing to lend a helping hand if you ask for it. The compensation is excellent.

    Cons

    Long hours, not so challenging work after a few months, have to be up to date with current government policies which can be interesting to some people. The high turnover rate can be demotivating and a blow to the company morale. The chance for promotions is stifled if you work with someone with a bad reputation and not many people have the insight to overlook this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Find ways to motivate people to work smart and faster, and set the billing hour targets to a reasonable one, there just isn't that much work for everyone.

    Good pay and has multiple shifts, day goes by quick as it is pretty fast paced. it is a call center so you have to be okay with that, but there is not really any cold calling.

    Cons

    Seasonal job, some people do get to stay through the off season but they will a lot of people go.

    Pros

    -You learn a lot really fast
    - Exposure to different clients and projects
    - Great people (overall really intelligent and collaborative)
    - Autonomy to make decisions and contribute in new ways to the business
    - You often choose your projects

    Cons

    - Work way too many hours
    - Way too much stress due to unreasonable client demands. Leadership rarely pushes back
    (both of these are common in consulting)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Focus on improving quality of life for employees
    - Make billable hours attainable without negatively impacting personal lives
