    Pros

    Excellent actuarial student program, generous exam support and bonuses, smart people to work with and learn from; many training opportunities for new hires; lots of Fortune 500 clients, interesting projects.

    Cons

    Depending on projects, sometimes may need to work long hours to meet project deadlines. But it's the nature of consulting.

    Towers Watson has a diverse workforce and is open to providing opportunities to all who seek them out. Offers flexible work arrangements where possible for those who have a good history working there.

    Cons

    Much of the career path at TW is self directed, therefore those who are not able to manage their own work or seek out internal opportunities to grow may fall under the radar.

    I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Client Base is class leading for Benefits
    - Strong resources due to national depth
    - Reasonably flexible atmosphere (no one watching to see if I was at my desk from 8-5)
    - Pay and benefits were reasonable for my role and skill set
    - Variety of work is engaging
    - Worked with very talented people

    Cons

    - Work-life balance is an issue for many (trade-off for flexibility)
    - You're "in" or "out" here in terms of pay and promotions. I was generally in but I saw the disparity
    - Bureaucracy is too powerful
    - Career development is a joke in terms of going from mid level to senior level in Retirement. The decline of DB plans is killing their ability to move people to senior consultant and is driving away younger talent who would have found a way to partner roles in the past in retirement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in your 31-40s who are good in Retirement. Don't let dinosaur 50s and 60s weight the firm down. Figure out your best 1-3 people at this level in every office. Sit down and discuss what opportunities are available to them for the next 12-24 months and how those help them grow to level 50.

    Pros

    Companys potential-skys the limit. The pay good for the position.

    Cons

    Training lacked the essential direction for the job functions. Anyone can read from slides, takes trainer interaction with new hires along with system practice. Either you got the skill set for CSR or not. Training should be more on systems toggling again with practice, worksheets or at least the opportunity to take proper notes. Not enough valuable time learning the clients needs. And most importantly, ,,, a company should not let one person with only ONE year of customer service experience EVER make most important decisions, ,, especially with the maturity level of a high school student. Presentation of your company is set in the attitude of your leaders regardless if they are lowest level management meaning a team lead.
