I have been working at Tulane University

    Pros

the compensation Is good and the people you work with are usually good too. You get to know a lot about Tulane as well.

    Cons

A lot of the job is communicated last second and is unclear. Hours are not always the best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more clear and direct in correspondence with RAs. HRL is not very organized and it shows when we're getting pieces of information from various superiors and we have to put it all together to figure out what we need to do.

I worked at Tulane University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very flexible work tailored to meet needs of graduate student employees. Very open to work from home options and HR was very helpful. Excellent part time work

    Cons

Work was sporadic and I would have liked to do more but only so much help was needed. Salary was low but worth it for the flexibility the position offered.

I worked at Tulane University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Free tuition waiver for children and employees
    Vacation
Closed between Christmas and New Years

    Cons

No opportunity for employees to take relevant courses during work day. Night courses did not apply to job.
Upper management does not support workers. HR only there to keep company from getting sued.
No life-work balance. When someone leaves work is redistributed to remaining employees.
    Raises are a joke
Health insurance premiums are constantly being absorbed by employee, resulting in making less each year, even with a 2-3% raise if they actually give a raise that year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you abuse your employees, they will eventually leave.

    I worked at Tulane University

    Pros

I really liked my co-workers and the air of congeniality. I felt that I recieved the most support from co-workers that were in similar positions, but not as much from senior level staff. Work-life balance is fantastic though!

    Cons

There are very limited opportunities for upward mobility within the organization which leaves many employees frustrated and dissatisfied. Salaries are also pretty abyssmal compared to the workload and are non-negotiable.
