ProsThe paycheck is above market average. They have multiple projects to run, the business is more stable than its competitors.

Cons-lots of managers with no degree, rude to the employee, and have no respect to anyoe
-employess either worry about layoff or play office politics
-project management are poor, always have to wait the last minute to get response, than work overtime
-no promotion or raise until you complain. You have to be your boss's buddy to get promoted.

Advice to Senior Managementget rid of the old "Buddy System", promote people with talent and knowledge. Encourage training and industry knowledge share. build up a career development plan for every employee

ProsGood talent in the technical pool. Pretty good responsiveness to project needs. Company revenue growth provides stable employment in any job class. New marketshare opportunities are opening new working locations. Many construction services and technical services opportunities exist with this company.
Employee working with UniversalPegasus should expect to have a stable income position with benefits.

ConsPoor company planning with respect to "company growth" and "career growth". Less than average performance in company directives/coorporate communications with employees. Less than average training and quality monitoring. Poor emphasis and support on career objectives and individual performance/growth hinders morale of leadership and technical staff. Most important goal is to meet profit targets set by financial company board of directors.
Employees working with UniversalPegasus should expect to bill as many hours as possible to project budgets to "maximize profit" where project completion metric comes later.

Advice to Senior ManagementDelegate leadership and communication responsibilities to lower managers and follow-up to see if things are "filtering" to employees. Try to manage employees as a group instead of telling individual employees one-on-one. Try small steps with respect to receiving emplyee feedback on how best to help manage instead of direct employees.

ProsIn normal circumstances the pay is fairly good for someone with a limited education, but for the field it is very low. Decent job if you're desperate and need the short term money.

ConsNo great opportunities for advancement. A promotion means that you are in a higher position, but also that you have less experience in that position than someone else so you are more likely to be laid off with no chance to go back down to your original position. The work is unpredictable. They do not care about your performance when it comes to raises or advancement. It’s who your friends are in the company or just being at the right place at the right time. Regardless if it is your fault or not, if the job you are currently on is ending there is no reassignment based on experience, you simply get laid off. Paychecks are decent overall, but hourly is only a step out of minimum wage so overtime doesn't help all that much. For the past 3 years there have been no bonuses.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake care of your employees. Base a person's wage and whether or not to be laid off on experience, not friends and luck.

ProsLocation and pay are good; some good people though they had mass layoffs of a lot of hard-working employees.

ConsNo fairness in promotions and projects. Very little training and opportunity for advancement. Nepotism and cronyism are rampant. Management cannot seem to get it together with a strategy; there were numerous organizational changes in a very short period of time.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't promote people just because you like them or are related to them. Trust your own employees instead of having an army of consultants to get work done. Don't treat your employees like garbage; they can figure out when your "town hall" meetings are staged!!

ProsThe best reason to work at UniversalPegasus is the money. They pay well for people who are in positions they would not be able to get else where. They also have lots of over time available.

ConsThe downside the management is horrible.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to what your employees are doing.

ProsGood location within the city. Universal is focusing on better overall health of its employees and have provided seminars, contests, etc to benefit them. A recent reorganization has helped clear up the overall structure of the company. The company seems to have a good foot hold in the industry. Pay is good.

ConsThe HR group seems to have hands tied due to the buddy system that is still in place even though a reorganization has occured. It does not matter how long you worked with the company but how much you make the company. Promotions are only given if a vacancy opens or if you complain. They pay well to hope you put up with the lack of middle management. Training is not available to those who work with growing technologies.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet HR enforce the company policies accordingly. Do not hire/lay-off based on billable hours but on work ethic and overall worth.

ProsI joined Pegasus when the two companies, Universal ENSCO and Pegasus International, were still separate entities. Pegasus was a very employee friendly company; the bosses were very concerned with the well being of its employees. It was like working in a family. Then, over the course of the last two years, merger talks were held under the auspices of an outside investor, systems were unified, departments streamlined and the two were made as one, except that...

Cons... from the point of view of the employees, things have changed a lot. The relation between bosses and employees have not been the same, especially after some of the old time management people left. Departments where the old leaders are still there seem to maintain their old relationships, but where managers have changed the atmosphere has turned a bit uneasy. Things will probably settle down after a while, but for the time being... not every one is loving the change!

Advice to Senior Management- Improve communications between different "divisions" of the company. The offshore people do not seem to know that there are opportunities in the onshore group they might be interested in. The onshore doesn't bother to advertise their projects to the other groups. The international group is oblivious to what is happening in the other areas.
- Be honest in communicating expectations; do not say that there is bright outlook for next year and then turn around and let old timers go. This makes the employees feel uneasy.
