    Student Service Director

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsVery flexible hours and scheduling, autonomous work environment, excellent training and support for new employees

ConsYear-over-year turnover of employees makes it difficult to develop long-lasting teams and relationships; pay isn't great but typical for the job

Advice to Senior ManagementThe nature of these positions is what it is, but the development of better SOPs and operating manuals would make consistency easier to maintain from year to year.

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Postdoctoral Fellow (Current Employee) Ottawa, ON (Canada)

ProsThere are some really great people in the department and top-notch research is conducted. Great work environment.

ConsHR and university administration is a complete mess. Issues include paperwork that goes missing or is not processed on time, people not getting paid on time due to admin errors. Also, 0 benefits for post-docs. You get your salary through your prof, and that's it - the university doesn't give you anything. You won't be in either the staff or student's union, so you better have private coverage.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the administration at the faculty and higher level.

ConsThere were none. But the opportunity is very limited for international students.

ProsGood working experience. Working time is flexible and working load is not heavy. If you want to work for a company for a long time..i would say this is it

ConsI am giving a very neutral observation as I am not one of the many disgruntled employees, I am actually one of the 'content' ones. Salaries are super unbalanced and not fair within the province.
