I have been working at University of Waterloo as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, great work-life balance, good employers and great co-workers.

    Cons

Bureaucratic and in many areas there's a decent amount of paper pushing. Middle management in some departments can be stagnant and relatively adverse to change. However, I am optimistic that it will change in the near future.

I have been working at University of Waterloo part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Waterloo's undergraduate co-op program is very beneficial for computer science students.

    Cons

The campus is not very aesthetically pleasing, at all. The buildings are so randomly place and most of them are old and hideous, i.e. the one in which I am currently writing this review.

I have been working at University of Waterloo full-time

    Pros

Great team to work with, plenty of opportunities to try new functions and move laterally both inside the Registrar's Office and out to other roles on Campus. Leaving by 4:30 almost everyday is a plus.

    Cons

Hard to move up past around a USG 8 (maybe 10) unless someone vacates their role, and many people are happy to stay in one role for a very long time. Can also be frustrating to deal with all the policies if you aren't used to a highly regulated workplace.
