I have been working at University of Waterloo part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Depending on the supervisor and department the experience can vary from person to person. You are free to manage your own time and work-hours are flexible. Regardless of details, you can get a good idea of what you would see in an academic environment and whether it is for you or not.

    Cons

The projects you may work on may not be the best fit for you. There might be personality conflicts with your supervisor. You either try to adjust or change your group.

I have been working at University of Waterloo full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Offers a very beneficial co-op/internship program which allows you to gain valuable experience in your field and also graduate debt free.
Holds high standards for their students in terms of quality of work and academic integrity.
A few good profs (depends on your learning style).
Growing rapidly and considered one of the best engineering schools in Canada.
Plenty of resources available to students.

    Cons

Most of the buildings are unattractive, poor school-life balance, many of the co-op jobs available are boring (paper work, repetitive, mindless work) but depends on the company.
