I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent international exposure, cutting-edge solutions and opportunities to learn from across the business. Good colleagues, largely collaborative, embraces flexible working practices and clearly wants to be more transformational.

    Cons

Conservative with a clear US powerbase, constant re-organisations poorly managed/communicated & tiring, talent management can seem almost incidental. Big variance in the quality of direction with some of it appearing very self-serving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider more carefully the impacts of frequent change and how you communicate it: Be more consistent and obvious with your efforts to understand and remove red tape and reduce silos. Don't commoditise your employees.

    I worked at Verizon

    Pros

The people I worked with were very good. I did on-line training whenever possible. Promotion within the company is limited.

    Cons

Line managers were generally very good but the Managers at a higher level need to see and realise just how much wprk we actually do, sometimes for more than one person. Don't get recognised for that unfortunately.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The colleagues which I knew were excellent: talented and great to work with. The management need to see how much we do and what we are actually achieving. Over and above what our Job Spec says.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

A good opportunity to work in an international business, with clients who cover are themselves multi-national.
A good opportunity to learn more functional capabilities - Security, UC&C, Cloud, along with WAN services.

    Cons

The business has the portfolio - but they are separate companies within Verizon.
Security, UC&C, CDN, Cloud, Colocation are all quoted, contracted, installed, service managed and supported by different people, using different tools and ticketing systems.
Customers who do need an "integrated offerings" end up being pushed into dedicated staffing models to hide the internal complexities within Verizon. This is prohibitive to all but the top tier of clients, and subject to slow process changes as underlying products change their capabilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to really look at the realities of our "Customer Experience". Being able to sell the portfolio is not the same as giving your customers the ability to buy an integrated service from one supplier.

I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Verizon offers multinational projects with enterprise class customers in different verticals. There is a lot expertise and great colleagues. Verizon offers training and great benefits.

    Cons

Moving forward within company and getting promotions needs a lot of work. You have to work independently and often overtime. Sometimes sales targets are really hard to reach.

I worked at Verizon full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Market presence - a known name that will get you in the door to prospective customers
    Great set of products

    Cons

Service Delivery - just really hard to plough through the red tape.
Really difficult to do business with
Company doesn't seem clear on what it actually is - telco, SI etc?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sort out Service Delivery - makes the sales team look stupid when the company doesn't deliver on our promises.
