I have been working at WS Atkins full-time for less than a year

Pros – Large organisation with superb HR and employee investment. Great training and support from managers. Opportunities to grow your career in any direction.
It is an amazing place to meet with world leading engineers in almost any discipline form aviation to zoology (maybe). The whole culture is focussed on being the best.

Cons – Too many business units, difficult to collaborate with other business units.
Easy to step on other units accounts without realising there is an existing relationship. Often this relationship is working in an entirely different part of the customer's organisation with limited customer links from one part to the other.

Advice to Senior Management – Going in the right direction.

Pros – Good work-life balance. Good opportunities and well looked after by management.

Cons – Not much. Maybe the IT could be slicker, but still good.

Advice to Senior Management – Continue to focus on personal development as well as bringing in new business.

Pros – Mostly an extremely clever and talented bunch

Cons – Some of the worst management ever. Full of pre-existing cliques. Back-stabbing ethos.

Advice to Senior Management – Consider the talent level of some of your senior managers/directors. Go on, take a step back and look at them. Some are way beyond their abilities.

Cons – Too much micromanagement from leadership, poor salary for lower level employees

Cons – average pay and possibly long hours

Pros – Great company with lots of benefits.

Cons – Some times feel quite small in such a large company.

Pros – Lots of different disciplines therefore you get to work with many interesting people.

Cons – Staff moral has sharply deteriorated over the last eight years.
Glass ceiling.
Absolutely no training ( could be just this specific department though).
Very late nights every week but no return.

Cons – Some managers think its their own money

Cons – Not a great deal of variety.

Pros – Worked with some very good and inspiring people.
Some good employee benefits schemes.

Cons – Still a big boys club in many ways.
Dinosaurs still at the top denying career progression for fresh new talent.

Advice to Senior Management – Value your staff, they really are your best asset. Discontinue the 'everyone is replaceable' attitude.
