Good company, Not so good management

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYahoo is full of talents and hard workers, great ideas are shared daily in the offices. The culture and the possibilities are great and this is the right moment for Yahoo.

ConsNo work-life balance, absurd policies, processes are old and bureaucratic. Things don't move due to office politics. Most of the people with innovative ideas receives constant cease and desist from peers in other regions.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to what your middle management does.

    Good company to grow in

Senior Web Developer (Former Employee) London, England

ProsLots of talented people, very high profile projects to work on. Instead of having to pretend you work to scale, it is very much a daily given that you have to.

ConsLots of hierarchy, many middle managers battle another by trying to get lots of people reporting to them, which means you might get tossed around a lot without being able to leave your mark in a project and fully understand it before you move on.

Great work environment, interesting product problems, great co-workers

Product Manager (Current Employee) London, England

ProsGreat place to work. Great benefits. Co-workers are genuinely nice people. Much less political wrangling than I've experienced at some other places where I've worked. Lots of great new products and content. It is an exciting place to work and they value their employees.

ConsIt is an American company, so if you work in EMEA, it is sometimes challenging to keep track of the latest developments that are happening in the US. This issue is not really specific to Yahoo, but is a basic challenge when working in the UK for an international company that is head-quartered in the USA.

    Lacking

    Intern (Current Employee) London, England

Prosbig name, good perks, clever people, flexible hours, potential to work from home if you need to any given day

Consunfortunately the company appears to have lid a bit since 2000, hanging onto ploys to get pageviews and really pushing for search share with lazy tactics
