    Pros

Many nursing leaders to provide support to bedside RNs

    Cons

Very top heavy. Administration has no clue re: details on units and how to truly support and retain staff.

    Advice to Management

Build trust and relationships. Be FAIR and CONSISTENT, and if you say you are going to be transparent, then create an environment where questions and feelings are encouraged.

    Pros

Some of the best people I have ever met and worked alongside. They have your back and stick together to get the job done for the patient

    Cons

My compensation and schedule are good for the area, and my management is awesome. But I have to keep it buttoned up, because most of the other employees seem pretty unhappy with their schedule or managers or demands

    Advice to Management

Roll up your sleeves and get stuff fixed that needs attention; not empty platitudes or throw money at the wrong people for the wrong solutions.

    Pros

Excellent opportunity to learn and practice.

    Cons

Too big and beaurucratic if you are looking to work for a team or become part of a family while working.

    Advice to Management

Take care of all your employees and not just the few (e.g. doctors and nurses). Everyone makes a difference.

    Pros

As an interpreter, I love to facilitate the communication between patients and providers. The need for interpreting services exists in every department within the hospital. One has the chance to meet diverse people and help to explain medical conditions and available treatments, as well as learning new terminology very often. The schedule is not strenuous and the payment is good.

    Cons

The department is very disorganized and does not promote the jobs around the hospital, letting these jobs be taken by phone-interpreters or freelance interpreters with more costly and less effective outcomes.

    Advice to Management

Bring more qualified in-house interpreters; compare the costs with phone-interpreting services; allow interpreters to promote their services in the departments staying on floor and not in the office waiting for the dispatchers to give them a new assignment; open an internship for less experienced interpreters and allow them to be mentored by more experienced ones, with the possibility of being hired in the future.
