I worked at Zynga full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - People - Love or hate the games, the people behind this company are it's best asset. Smart, driven, fast and always open to help, you'll be pulled forward by them and if you're smart enough to find a good mentor, they'll help you push yourself to new heights. Go for the people!
    - Be your own CEO - Ability to own and impact large areas of whatever you're working on with distributed decision making.
    - Zynga Speed == Pragmatic - To move fast you have to make trade-offs and this place will teach you how to do it better than anyone out there.
    - Zynga First - Egos get pushed aside when someone challenges you with "is that Zynga first?"
    - Meritocracy - Doesn't matter if you're in QA, Documentation or Design, your voice gets heard and the best ideas rise to the top if people have the confidence to speak up.
    - Level Up - If you aspire to move up and can both build and execute upon a plan to grow your career then Zynga will reward you with upwards mobility. Just don't think working REALLY hard is enough, it's not, you need to show results.
    - Innovate - the games might not always show it (see cons) but internally the company is never afraid to change itself, processes, teams or tech in order to move forward. Sometimes that's a messy thing but at least it breaks the old molds and creates new ones.

    Cons

    - Insane hard pace at times, you'll burn out if you can't figure out how to stay healthy (which is your responsibility).
    - Regurgitation - games can be very derivative and there are economies of scale in doing so, move around to make sure you don't get bored, 1 year per team.
    - Ruled by Numbers - sometimes you need to use gut and intuition but those aren't always trusted if there's no comparable numbers to look at it.

I worked at Zynga full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great perks
    - Awesome office and facilities
    - Generally fun-loving employees

    Cons

    - They cut back bonus in 2013
    - It gets very political across the company. Lots of finger pointing, lack of accountability, and individuals or groups trying to hog credits when it's not due

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Don't get bogged down in analysis paralysis. Lots of PM are really good with analyzing trends and data at zynga to generate expected revenue insights. But to make great game, you need relentless focus in (often times) non-quantifiable efforts such as innovation and creativity.
    - Enforce accountability in each department by not having double-dip P&L responsibility with shared support functions

I have been working at Zynga full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are incredibly smart, helpful and collaborative.
Employees are challenged, but not overworked.
Great perks- delicious meals and awesome gym on-site, including a basketball court.
People notice when you do good work and you usually get recognized for it.

    Cons

It's not as "hot" of a company as it used to be, so it's lost some talented people over the last couple of years.

    I worked at Zynga full-time

    Pros

Challenging work, opportunities to work with large-scale analytic data, and a very fast turnaround from ideas to action. Free food & stuff if that is important to you. Fun co-workers.

    Cons

Very, very tiring. Relentless demands on your time - late nights, weekend work, always feeling like you're behind. Pay was better than other options by say 20%, but easily worked 40% more than other positions = you're getting paid less for your time, which is your life.

    Pros

Great benefits and everyone works as a team to get things done.

    Cons

Upper management seems directionless and don't know how to create any new games except for FarmVille.

I worked at Zynga full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Food
    Bring your dog to work

    Cons

    - Very little accountability across all the levels. Layer after layer of bullshitting leads to one after another horrible management decisions. Lack of self-awareness of the business (or forced to jack up the numbers). If you aim for building up your integrity and expertise, this is not where you want to start your career
    - Culture of disrespect creates a hostile atmosphere. If you can't handle personal attack and finger pointing, it's better for you to stay away from zynga
    - No transparency in performance review and promotion. They throw titles at people's face when people want to leave . Thus most people there with the word "Manager" "Director in their titles don't know how to develop and lead a team at all. Ironically, this mid-management team with inflated title will not hesitate to dress their team members down in front of crowds or behind close doors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some respect to people's hard work and LISTEN to what people are talking about. At the end of the day, fancy office doesn't matter, the so called zynga speed doesn't matter, how many people got promoted or kicked out doesn't matter. What matters is to make ONE goddamn good game
