The Sales Representative for Del Monaco Specialty Foods is selling a service not a product line to potential customers. This person will be responsible for producing sales by calling upon prospects and supporting existing customers and educating them on how Del Monaco Specialty Foods can enhance their business through creating and producing the customer's own products with high quality and food safety standards. The Sales Representative must have strong sales skills, but also be willing and able to "roll-up the shirt sleeves" to work with the customer throughout the life cycle of the customer's product. A sales orientation with strong communication and customer service skills is essential. Respect and knowledge of food production is a must for this position. Attributes of flexibility, creativity, self-discipline, strong organizational skills and action-orientation are essential for this role, as the position offers a significant amount of responsibility with accountability for results. The successful Sales Representative will have the desire and ability to support the building of the business and to grow in responsibility as the Company grows. This is an outside position that requires most activity to occur outside of the office

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Have complete knowledge of Company products and be able to discuss value with customers.
  • Handle all initial inquiries and qualify all prospective opportunities based on Del Monaco Specialty Foods criteria
  • Build relationships with prospects and existing customers in order to generate sales of new or established DSF products.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments supporting Sales to ensure that the customer has a cohesive and responsive team throughout the Sales process
  • Use sales expertise to maximize and close sales per contact and build an effective sales pipeline.
  • Use knowledge of target markets to advance the company's image and sales.
  • Prepare and provide accurate account forecasts for assigned accounts/territories throughout the year to track achievements versus goals.
  • Follow-up effectively on leads and post-sale support.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and other industry events.
  • Develop sales territory and implement a comprehensive territory management plan to indicate target opportunities, potential new accounts, expansion of new accounts and and analysis of competitor accounts
  • Gather data on marketing trends and competitive product and pricing
  • Participate in Sales meetings as required
  • Keep detailed records of sales activity.
  • Set schedules and manage time effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain needs of current customers as required.
  • Demonstrate teamwork when working with other departments.
  • Perform all other related duties and special projects as required
  • Complete all expense reports in a timely manner and per policy guidelines
  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position reports to the VP of Business Development and has no subordinates reporting to the position.

  • Required Experience:
    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration preferred and a minimum of 2 years experience is required
  • 5+ years of sales and service to the food and hospitality industry desired
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships internal and external to the organization with a focus on meeting or exceeding service and product expectations.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all organizational levels
  • Knowledge of nutrition, food and food industry trends
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and ERP a plus
  • Strong in multitasking
  • Handle a lot of interruptions
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills as well as have the ability to meet deadlines with appropriate attention to detail in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with small and large groups.
  • Basic food safety knowledge
  • Able to carry, move, and lift at least 50 pounds.
