You do get it depending on who it is in your family however admin sometimes "forget" to put it on repeatedly and you have to chase them for months
They'll grant it, certainly, but not having had occasion to personally experience this, I think it would be deducted from your accrued annual, judging by staff room break chat.
That's about the only good thing they do , and leave you alone
Can get threatened with dismissal if you are AWOL due to a sick parent dying in hospital.
As far as I'm aware it is unpaid leave for bereavements of closer family members only
