  • Sick Pay  (23 comments)

“Company sick pay is based on length of service up to a maximum of 3 months”

  • Employee Discount  (10 comments)

“Available. But not great. A program is offered but barely beats deals found on the open market.”

  • Pension Plan  (9 comments)

“Significantly eroded from previous packages offered. However still market competitive as a percentage of pay. Pay however is far from market leading...”

Best thing is Prices of the tickets do not change despite the day you purchase them if you are doing the stand by, which means that you can pay for your ticket the same day and will be the same price. The worst is that the ticket you are paying for is not a confirmed one.

Pension scheme recently changed, largely for the better. Access to discounted flights and staff travel is the major benefit. Most areas accepting of flexible working hours and working from home on occasion. Private medical cover for some job grades.

Best is staff travel which lets you explore the world for a low price. Worst: Pension, which has recently been de-valued.

Staff Travel is a great attraction to working in the airline industry but also to working for British Airways. It is an absolutely fantastic company to work for if you seek to travel the world

Staff travel when it works is great. Pension has changed greatly no longer defined benefit scheme. Pay lower than you expect. Not as good as you think.

Only permanent members get a benefits package and contractors get nothing.

Staff travel is the best benefit although this can be fairly stressful as you can only travel if there are unsold seats available after check in.

The private health insurance is being consistently eroded along with the whole benefits package. It’s a stealthy cost cutting exercise as its part of the remuneration “package” that comes under the least scrutiny. The staff travel is the best perk.... of you can use it. Many people cannot due to their situation. It’s great if you’re a) single b) don’t have children c) don’t travel during school holidays.

Holiday entitlement was great but at the same time, it was limited as it was a constant struggle to get a full week approved unless you were doing it a year ahead and even then, you would often be waitlisted as they only allowed 2 people maximum for the same day. Staff travel was a perk I never used but heard great and awful things about it; I would suggest choosing a route that had a lot of flights, not something like the Maldives, you’re just dreaming then. The pension was okay but the new pension that they’ve brought in seems to benefit the new contracts better.
