There is good technology (Lync, remote access) in place to facilitate working from anywhere - offsite, at home, other offices. I often have Lync calls across UK offices and other countries whilst being remote from the office and this is seen as very normal and works well. Whilst the expectation is that you will normally work in the office there is flexibility to work from anywhere and there is a culture that supports it. I think this stems from the global business mindset and being flexible to take calls from all sides of the world, at times outside the normal office work pattern. Formal requests can be made to make it a more permanent arrangement.
