Paid time off for illness
The company don't question this and it's not held against you in terms of progression (although you never know)
From June 2018 they have cut the PHI (long-term sick/disability) benefit payment period to 5 years for new entrants only. Used to be a proper scheme which paid until the earliest of death, recovery or the retirement age under the scheme. No idea why it has been downgraded especially as it creates a two-tier scheme as existing members keep the existing, and far superior, benefits. Can only be a cost issue but seems very strange as, whilst encouraging people to be more self-reliant financially, the organisation has decided to undermine the long-term financial security for a small but over time growing element of its workforce.
I have not had to claim it so far but am aware of individuals who have been on sick leave and returned on phased approach but full pay
I believe its both generous for the industry we're in but I've heard of other companies who are very generous with sick pay
V good policy and approach.
Three months full and three months half pay. Acceptable but not strong.
It is same as industry standard.
