Paid for being off sick. There are quite a few checks in place to ensure that you're ready to return to work.
Full sick pay for 180 days
Used to be a lot more generous but vulnerable to exploitation. Now is six months for any rolling two year period. You can pay for additional income protection on top of standard company provided cover

For sick pay, your manager doesn't tell you if you would be paid or not. During probation period, they don't pay.

Sick leave is paid at full pay. They use the Bradford factor scoring system. You can have 4 "periods" per year - any more than that and you might get in trouble.
Great sick pay - up to 6 months full sick pay and I think 75% or 50% thereafter.
Sick pay but be prepared for their attitude to change.
