Final salary pension, holiday and a huge range of financial, personal and health benefits on top.
Pension contribution was very small.
For me and my family : free travel on GWR and free EU travel. Reduced travel on the Eurostar. Free Harwich ferry crossings. Reduced travel for friends. First class at weekends and BH. Reduced rates for sleeper train cabins complete with bacon butties and tea in the morning. Free access to counselling via Validium. You can claim money back for various health services. Good pension benefits. For people not ex-BR you have to pay 25% on trains operated by other companies. Payment is 4 weekly NOT monthly and I have never had any problems with being paid on time and the correct amount. Discounts at some station based outlets like Yo Sushi, coffee/tea shops and others. Yearly "Love to Spend" voucher. You will be helped with any emotional or physical problems.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
