Very competitive with other university and can be shared
I understand that one can take up to a year off work for maternity leave. Not sure about paternity leave.
Maternity leave package is 12 months which is very good and important for new mums.
On the plus side, maternity pay is centrally funded by the university, not by projects / departments, and is fair. However, I've subsequently found that some other Russell Group universities have more generous pay/leave conditions. In my experience, the level of support you receive is ad-hoc and pretty much down to who your line manager is, which is far from ideal. Equality training for staff around maternity I found to be poor (despite Athena Swan-type accreditation) however this may have improved over the last couple of years.
Heard that maternity and paternity leave is available in this institution, which is a standard practice.
KCL offers the standard maternity/paternity leave as is required by law. Luckily my managers were nice and understanding and were flexible in terms of start times etc.
You don't have as a PhD student
The maternity leave offered by KCL is fairly generous
