Pay is less than some other institutions and no flexitime but good training options, 2 paid breaks per day and if you are a professional librarian post you get an iPad.

Worst is the senior management which is constantly changing and not experience. Best is a conducive teaching environment.

Great benefits – can’t really beat the annual leave allowance (you get all of Christmas off because the university is closed, extra 5 days once you’ve done 5 years’ service), and they are flexible around the hours you do, which is great considering how poor transport in GM can be. The benefits app they have isn’t the best, but it doesn’t matter because you can have access to Unidays from your staff email anyway which has really good deals.

Excellent annual leave allowance, at least 25 days + bank holidays + Christmas shut down period, and this does increase by time served and seniority. You can access Unidays app as staff.

Holidays MMU has one of the most competitive holiday entitlements in the region. Special and Unpaid Leave MMU recognises that we all have those times when we have a family or other emergency and can support you by granting special leave or periods of unpaid leave, where appropriate. Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Parental Leave MMU offers a range of generous family-friendly provisions aimed at supporting you becoming a parent or guardian. Childcare Vouchers MMU recognises the importance of achieving a work/life balance, particularly if you have childcare responsibilities. We also understand that there can be high costs associated with childcare. The University has in place a scheme to allow you to make significant savings to the costs of your childcare for children up to the age of 16. Access to Development and Training MMU is committed to supporting the ongoing development of its employees to achieve their potential and offers a range of in-house courses and advice on a range of development routes that may be suitable for you. Staff Travel Discounts A range of travel discounts and offers are available to you as a Manchester Met member of staff. You can apply for interest free loans for public transport or discounted annual tickets for buses, trams and trains. You can also benefit from a cycle to work scheme, which enables you to make savings of up to 42% on a brand new bike and accessories. Find out more about your travel choices. Loyalty Award Employees who have completed 20 years service will be entitled to a voucher of up to £300 and will be invited to a celebratory lunch hosted by the Vice-Chancellor. Pension Schemes As University employees, we are fortunate to be able to join a pension scheme, which provides a generous defined benefit pension upon retirement. The University participates in a number of schemes (you are eligible for membership of one of these schemes depending on the nature of your contract) and makes a significant employer contribution to add to your own. Find out more on the pension schemes operated at MMU.

Good annual leave, well above average. Poorly paid mat leave and need to be there for over a year to get it.

Very little in the way of perks over and above a fairly poor discount scheme are offered by Manchester Metropolitan University
