    The sick pay policy is straight-forward, with sickness recorded by line managers using an HR web-based system.

    Also needs to be reconsidered! Management expects staff to call the absence line, and ironically the absence will not be "authorised" without doing so, and you would expect the absence line to be working at all times throughout earliest shift beginning time to latest shift starting time, but no! The phone will be picked up when management feels like, usually get through on the 4th or 5th time of calling.

    Depending on your contract you may or may not get paid on the days you take off sick. I did not get pay for my sick days

    They payed me whilst I was sick at home so not much to say really just meant my condition wouldnt affect my quality of life

    Sick pay is only available for less than 8 shifts/per month and that is subject to review by managers. Also, if you are sick only one day, you do not get paid.

    They try and scheme their way out of paying you sick pay, they will do anything to find a way out of having to pay you while you're off sick, even if it is with a genuine medical condition.

    Marks and Spencer used a trigger system to support sick pay. Staff are entitled to the first day pay providing they haven't had a prior sick day in the last 12 weeks.
