They provided the absolute bare minimum that they could get away with after much campaigning by staff - just 5 days. Not sure what you would have needed to do if you had a major illness or needed longer. I think they expected you would go without pay or use holiday.
Paid for up to 5 days sickness in a calendar year, any more than 5 days is unpaid.
