‘Some of the best. If female you even leave service early if you want to look after child full time.’
‘Awful. Hardly worth it unless you serve 30 years now. It use to be one of the biggest draws of service. Now it’s disappointing. It’s non contributing but it’s really low.’
Free medical and dental care. Sports including gym membership. The best non-contributory pension as well as many other unique benefits like reduced cost accommodation including family housing options.
More benefits and better pay at civilian company
There is a benefits calculator to estimate the civilian equivalent to the accommodation and medical benefits.
I am not listing the benefits as each individual has different circumstances that require assistance.
Pension is good, encouragement for professional development
Sick pay is good, can now split the maternity period between both parents, enabling the man to be there for the new born child as needed .
Best thing is free dental, gym, tons of annual leave and full pay when sick. Worst is you never get pay for overtime as you are on duty 24/7 and when out of the country I got payed an extra £7 a day.
The worst part of the benefits package is that it changes without warning, pension and commitment bonus are changed with no warning and there is nothing you can do about it.
Dental, medical, free prescriptions, physiotherapy etc all provided. Pension not as good as it used to be. Separation allowance when deployed is fair.
Good holidays, not much allowance to get home, if you don't own a house it costs a lot because most bases are isolated.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
