The only benefits we had was a reasonable staff discount, but this got reduced every year on what you got to use it against
Employee discount of up to 25% for a range of products. This is only available to employees who have passed the 13 week probation
The discount is good and the selection of products the company sells is vast. As there is so much choice in the store the perks are redemmeable across anything you might need
Pension and holidays are paid. You get 25% discount in store but its only on certain things and can be confusing to what you can and cant get discount on. There is no bonuses for staff at all.
They pay for holiday and sick pay
There are none whatsoever. No bonus, no tip. The manager keeps the wage budget down by giving 20 hour contracts to staff so he gets his yearly bonus and then doesn't share it with the team. The store suffers as a result.
Employees get the bare minimum of wages and benefits required by law (other than the staff discount). Holidays have to be booked months in advance and are allowed only at certain times. You can't take any holidays around Christmas and Easter and other bank holidays, which include most of the school breaks as well. If you work 4 hrs/day you are not allowed to take a break at all, which can be very fatiguing by the end of your shift. If you work 6 hrs/day, there's an obligatory 30-minute unpaid lunch-break, so you're at work for 6 hours but only get paid for 5.5 hrs (just not worth staying the extra 2 hours!) Full-time employees get 2X15-minute paid breaks, but they also have to take an obligatory 45-minute unpaid lunch break, whether they need those 45-minutes to eat their lunch or not. This makes their work day very long. If you're on a 20 hr/week contract, you only get issued 1 (one!) polo shirt which you must wear every day. It's made of some cheap polyester material which makes you sweat and itch. It is badly cut and looks terrible after just a few washes and you'll have to wash it every day to avoid B.O. It's great when you work the late shift one day and the morning shift the next! You'll be lucky if you get an unused shirt as well - usually they give you a used one. Enjoy!
You get 25% off of non-food, non-electrical (some exceptions, but no discount on electrical DIY or gardening tools) and 10% off of lighting products with plugs.
