In addition to annual national pay awards and automatic progression to the top of the salary scale, UEA operates an annual review process for the award of promotions, special increments, discretionary awards and ex-gratia payments. Performance bonuses take the form of accelerated progression up the salary scale or a one-off payment to recognise a specific activity. Reviews take place one a year.
