Wiltshire Council provides a great working environment, with modern open plan offices. We encourage flexible working, with new technology to support this flexibility to cut travel time and make administration quicker and easier.
Good pension scheme; local and national discounts are available through the staff rewards website. Generous annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years at the council.
Benefits are fantastic at Wiltshire Counicl and include great holidays, flexible working, good pension and Wiltshire Rewards (staff discounts for plenty of highstreet and online retailers).
Good salaries, excellent holiday allowances and truly flexible working. The pension scheme is also very competitive.
Flexible working is amazing, the rewards you get are brilliant too - lots of discounts at restaurants, days out, cinema as well as healthcare benefits and discounts, free eye tests and money off glasses. You get a work laptop and laptop bag meaning working from home is easier, free car parking space near by.
Worklife balance, remote working allowed
Great pension, up to 28 days holidays per year, Wiltshire Rewards discount site, salary sacrifice schemes (childcare vouchers, cycle to work), subsidised rail season tickets. Flexible working is promoted.
The ability to work flexibly and around your home / family life is worth it's weight in gold. Home working and mobile working are the norm with Wiltshire Council and they have got it just right.
The are no bad things about the benifits.
The financial package is ok, particularly when you factor in that compared to private sector the number of hours per week are much lower - even with the occasional evening or weekend of work it is nothing like the hours I used to work. The Local Government pension scheme is good, annual leave is above average. We have a rewards scheme which enables you to get discounts at high street shops. However it is the non-financial package which I value most - the fact that my team are genuinely flexible - people can work from home or nearest office location most of the time - meetings are often held over lync so saves travel time. My hours fit around child care, and also there is genuine flexibility when required to enable me to get a good work/life balance as long as I achieve my work outcomes. Part of this also requires flexibility on my part and I am aware that not all services operate as flexibly as mine.
