What does a Community Assistant do?
Community assistants perform a range of administrative support tasks and may also be responsible for general office duties. They frequently serve as the initial contact person a visitor may encounter when interacting with the business either onsite or by phone, and would handle intake duties such as collecting basic information or ensuring necessary paperwork is completed. They may serve as a receptionist and greet customers or visitors, answer phones, perform data entry, prepare correspondence and other communications, and coordinate schedules.
Community assistants have at least a high school diploma and some experience in an administrative support or customer service field. These roles require a high degree of patience, a passion for customer service, and good customer service skills. Proficiency with data entry tools and software programs is expected.
- Ensure courier parcels have all the correct details for scheduled pick-ups.
- Be the organization's face and meet with applicants and current employees to prepare them for the job.
- Perform routine property inspections and ensure standards set forth in the governing documents are being observed.
- Operate cashiering equipment accurately and efficiently recognizing all forms of tender and providing the correct change when appropriate.
- Actively engage and direct customers when needed.
- Inform customers of specials and promotions as requested by company or store management.
- Properly record sales through the scanning system.
- Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards
- Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
- Identify and execute opportunities to connect members with each other.
- Provide feedback on programming type (based on member makeup) and evaluate events based on attendance, satisfaction, and impact on the appropriate event team.
- Distribute all necessary info to promote events including the creation and posting of weekly events poster and individual event posters.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, business administration, management or equivalent experience.
- A leader, critical thinker, and excellent communicator.
- Collaboration and time management skills alongside adaptability and continuous improvement.
- Can conduct lectures and labs with confidence and assist students in need.
- A natural problem solver with a demonstrated sound work ethic.
- Demonstrated product knowledge.
- Fluent in operating systems, computing, cost analysis, and ratios.
- Comfortable compiling information for noticies and newsletters.
- Prior experience as a consultant.
