What does a Project Consultant do?

Project consultants are versatile, multi-faceted consultants who often provide guidance, support, and assistance related to a broad range of project-related business needs. While they may have a specialized area of expertise, they frequently offer a breadth of general business knowledge across a particular industry or focused on certain project tasks. They are often enlisted to provide technical support or professional expertise in critical areas of high-priority projects. They create and administer systems and processes to make repeated tasks more efficient, and implement other operational changes to save time and money.

Project consultants often have a bachelor’s degree in their field of expertise, although extensive relevant professional experience may also be acceptable. They must have excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple complex processes simultaneously.
