What does a Project Scientist do?

Project scientists perform research, provide technical support, or lend other types of technical expertise to assist with a project. They are employed in a wide range of industries and academic fields. They develop and enforce testing and research guidelines, protocol, and procedures. They conduct inspections and reviews, ensure technical accuracy of information and findings, and perform testing and sampling. They may also be responsible for ensuring all quality and safety guidelines are met and for verifying any necessary regulatory compliance.

Project scientists typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in their technical area of expertise, although an advanced degree is an asset. They must have excellent research skills, and good project management capabilities. These roles require a strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain organized, accurate records.
