Is the Briggs & Riley Baseline Softside CX Expandable Carry On worth it?
I like my job alot. I work with smart people. I have a ton of flexibility. All in (salary, bonus, equity) I make $300k mcol. It's kind of a dead end, I'm not gonna make partner and it's PE backed so I could lose my job at any time. At some point I'll probably be laid off because that just seems to be the new reality. I struggle with looking for a new role because I like my role. But also I feel lazy just chilling. Sanity check if I should try to jump and get back on the escalator or enjoy it?
Which programming language should I learn to break into technical roles related to AI. I have a non-technical consulting background and am currently looking to expand my skills.
PWC recently removed GLP-1 coverage for their employees. Curious if your company still covers it. Can you comment your company name and if it still covers GLP-1’s please?
I was just terminated from the deals group. I’ve let myself go in terms of my health and weight. I figured I’d use a good chunk of the severance time to get in shape over the summer and focus on my health but my friends and family are pushing me to find a way to juggle both and call me crazy for taking my time. My plan is to build a morning routine of fitness and work that into my new schedule when I’m rehired. Any thoughts ?
What net worth would you need to feel comfortable walking away from corporate for good
I bought the international sized one in 2012 and it still looks brand new. I am not even remotely exaggerating. It is gorgeous, lightweight, fits every OH space with ease, and drives like a dream. And, it does not say “Tumi” on it. I can’t recommend it more. In fact, I would rank it in my top 5 all time best purchases.
Mine happens to be out from a recent trip so here it is, 9 years old. Pristine condition. And look at those wheels— almost new! Mine is not an expandable but that is because I would never ever check this bag. I’d sooner check a garbage bag wrapped in duct tape if I ran out of space. FWIW I carry my laptop in a slim Knomo shoulder bag, and the laptop in that bag fits in the front pocket of my B&R. So I wheel that whole thing on with a small carry on, and when I get to my seat the laptop comes out and stays with me. So I’m really getting 3 items on board, just smooshing them for the boarding nazis.
Worth it, even at full price. I also got mine in navy blue, it still looks (and works) great after four years of very heavy use. Super light, rolls great, the expand/collapse function works super well. Also got the international size - really like the shape for packing and have had zero trouble with US airlines (that was my one worry when picking the international size vs domestic, but I figured non-US airlines tend to be stricter on bags, and it has been a non-issue). Like BAH1 said, it fits in every OH… with the exception of some regional jets, but that will be true of almost every bag.
Is there anything more satisfying than the clicking sound and feel when you press the expandable down to compact it?
Yes it’s got lifetime guarantee
Love my baseline. Thing is bulletproof, it slid down a massive escalator and is fine.
Compared to what? Using a black garbage bag to carry stuff around? Yes, it is :)
I personally use this (McKinsey has a 40 percent discount). https://www.tumi.com/p/international-expandable-4-wheeled-carry-on-01171541041 That said, I recently bought a B&R laptop bag as it was on sale, seems to be good so far (was primarily a Tumi user previously)
I love mine, got it in blue and get lots of compliments. Lifetime warranty is unbeatable. If you’re not in a rush, they usually have some good sales, think mine was 30% off but during peak COVID they were like 50% off.
I think I got mine during Memorial Day if I remember correctly - but they were having super random ones during Covid
I prefer Rimowa
Great brand too but Different price points
