Just found out I’m losing my job due to my company (agency) not getting RFP and the business is going to another company. Best ways to spin it during an interview please
The company has been struggling like many other companies. You can’t control that. But have something positive like you’ve built expertise in areas that may be in high demand and transferable at another company
Like10This is very explainable, and you’ll land on your feet very soon.
Like7I’m losing my job due to a restructuring regardless of me being a top performer in my department. Never talk bad about the company you’re leaving. Rainbows and sunshine. You’re looking forward to bigger and better challenges to grow even further and are looking for a home rather than just another job.
Like10This sounds like a RIF situation. If you’re being laid off, you don’t need to “spin” anything since it’s not your fault. Layoffs are almost always due to circumstances beyond your control. Just be up front and honest with potential employers, but do make sure to show them that you’re not being idle with your time. Let them know you’ve been taking online classes, freelancing, or volunteering to keep your skills sharp. Now, if your company’s loss of the bidding war (and your subsequent job loss) was directly tied to your performance, then be up front. Let the interviewer know that you’ve learned from your mistakes and have taken the proper corrective actions to prevent a similar situation from happening again in the future.
Like7Your contract with the company ended… it literally did.

Like1Thanks all! Never been here before. Nervous and in shock still. Just ready for better and bigger things.
Like2Wow, I can't believe that. So sorry & shocked. As someone who works on a team that does RFPs for agencies & we weren't selected for a few, no one on my team was let go bc of it. Was it for a big proposal? Had you not closed a proposal in awhile? You could say it wasn't the right fit & things were changing etc. You could also say you're looking for something different or a new challenge.
