I have been working at Ampush full-time for more than a year
Ampush is very much what you make of it. You can work 9-6 and be OK, or you can put in the time to learn everything and come out with the ability to run an entire growth org. 2 years at Ampush is 4... anywhere else if you do it right. - If you want to learn to build and grow a D2C company, this is the place. - Hybrid of a strategy consulting firm (It was started by ex-McKinsey folks) and an agency (you actually execute and learn how to do things rather than submitting a Powerpoint, which you need if you want to grow a company from scratch). - Interesting diversity of clients: Entertainment, E-Commerce/Subscription, Early-Stage etc. - People management opportunities within 1-2 years of being at the company - Smart and fun coworkers; hyper collaborative - Great place to expand your skill set (Data analysis, design thinking, etc.)
- Turnover: They lose most of their top talent after 2 years. It's similar to an investment bank or consulting firm. - Grueling: If you want to succeed at the company and be top analyst you have to... put in the hours. It's also client-facing work, so working weekends is a must. The analysts around you are extremely smart and hard working so you end up pushing yourself. - Nebulous development: Your managers don't help you grow after a certain point, you have to learn what you want to learn on your own. - Subjective promotion system: Can be tough if you don't get placed on a good client. Great analysts haven't been promoted because of this and have left the company for a better position externally.
Advice to Management
- Retain your analysts and leads! Companies are offering $130K + equity to growth managers.
