I worked at DPL full-time for more than 8 years
The in house training and opportunities for advancement were the best I've received in a professional position utilizing my post high school education and transferable skills from multiple entities.
Control of extreme accumulated time off and coverage. Internal controls of computer software programs, protection from foul play. Required to do co-workers duties excessively, refusal of co-workers... to do some emergency services such as in the restroom as if beneath them but not me. Co-workers not understanding individual vs team responsibilities and flow chart of protocol, what PIC duties were. There were four job titles of duties at a branch, each trained with specific responsibilities solely for that position, usually not crossing. Mature and responsible persons whom didn't need supervision but assistance with problems when they arose.
Advice to Management
As I retired, I messaged I love dpl and only wished I had began earlier in a library setting. The opportunities to learn and perform varied duties which I loved while interacting with the public and... serving them...the coming together of all my positive experiences in life came together at DPL. The challenges, the organizing of programs, coordinating with entities within and in the community...we worked to perfect. I tried to learn as much as I could attending seminars and classes at central, city hall and city university. Recall of the classes attended could not be proven when I asked for the list of those I attended. We did sign in...but tracking slip thru the cracks.
