I worked at Homebase Limited part-time for more than a year
Staff are nice to work with. Lots of training.
Basic wage. Because all the money goes on design consultant commissions and incentives. No incentives or commissions for any other staff. Bonus % paid on contractated hours not total hours worked.... I.e. if you do 60 hours 40 of which is over time you only get % on the 20hours. Overtime is paid at minimum wage. Overtime is required. Weekends, evenings and early morning starts are all required. Training is done in your own time. Any additional training or skills you choose to complete will be used by the company but won't be rewarded in any way.
Advice to Management
Incentivise all staff. Reward those who work hard to learn all they can to help out on the shop floor.
I have been working at Cotswold Company full-time for more than 3 years
Everyone is genuinely lovely and super supportive. We all pull together when needed and the drive to make the business the best it can be is evident in the people around you here. It doesn't... feel like a big corporate machine which means people at all levels are really approachable and you get to be involved in things you just wouldn't get a chance to do if you were in a bigger company. I genuinely wouldn't want to work anywhere else!
Whilst it can be a challenging and fast paced work, the opportunities to get involved in new and exciting things and the great people I work with outweigh the occasional late nights
