I have been working at DC Thomson Family History full-time for more than a year
The company made an acquisition in the US and are set to really break out in that market. Lots of new blood in the Engineering team and lots of exciting new agile development practices being spread... across the team (i.e. daily deployments, dedicated Engineering Days once a week to work on infrastructure project to make your day-to-day life easier). Christmas party was legendary. We're still talking about it (late Jan!).
We went through a difficult year with redundancies and lots of change. The new CEO brought along a new Senior Management Team and they spent most of 2014 redoing the business, top down. This was... difficult at times, but the results speak for themselves. The business stopped declining and is now actually growing, revenue year-on-year has gone way up and we now have ambitious plans for 2015.
Advice to Management
-Make the new business strategy clear to the entire company, and keep repeating it. We get stuck in day-to-day stuff, it's good to be reminded of the bigger picture. -Trust your employees and... challenge them to get better. We will love you for it.
