long hours and unflexible shifts
Pros
Working in Travelodge wasn't something I envisaged. I completed the application on line with no real intent of changing jobs, let lone career. Once I went to the interview with the DIstrict Manager,... and the telephone interviews I knew this was the role for me. Travelodge are people orientated and the tag line " People are the heart of everything we do" is true. I was invited down to a roadshow where I met a lot of colleagues who have worked for the company for a number of years and the culture of wanting to succeed was evident and the passion to ensure that the people and guests are at the forefront of the future plans was great to see. Training was first class, I had no Hotel experience at all and was given the correct training in the right setting that made me feel confident that I was set up for success. I had an injury where I broke my shoulder the day I was taking over the Hotel, but was made to feel that I wasn't a burden and the support from my District Manager and the hierarchy was outstanding, again made me feel included and confirmed for me that Travelodge was the right decision for me to make a new career with.
Cons
- The Hotel I have taking over is older and the exterior is looking rundown, however we have being fixing this day by day - Taking over from an established team can be tough and the level of... experience was initially a concern. - Payroll system is tough to get your head around with different departments in the Hotel from Housekeeping, Reception and Food and Beverage, more detailed training around this aspect would help
