I have been working at United Utilities full-time for more than 10 years
I started on a temp contract back in April 2010 (I was only 19!), I was made Perm in the October 2010. Since then I've had ample opportunity to move around experiencing many different teams. Since... you learn many transferable skills, you can always move around to strengthen your core skills, my friends have all been on that journey and then suddenly you land yourself in a team that you just know fits perfectly for you. I've now been in Commercial for 3 1/2 years and wow it's sometimes challenging, but it's a rewarding challenge. I've had the opportunity to complete educational courses and for this I'm glad I can say I continue to work for UU. Our Director is very approachable and so is every member of management including senior management, this also including the CEO. They all say hello in passing. This makes working for UU feel more like a family, I've gained many friends for life. On a night together we always have a time to talk about what's going on in work. This tells me that we all enjoy it, not many people want to talk work whilst out socialising (Pre-Covid!). Overall, if you want a job for life sign up for the jobs page. All my friends always ask me how to join and some have been successful, keep trying and like I said with it's diverse work force a perfect job will soon appear.
Cons..There are no cons. I think anyone can say something about work they dis-like but these out way the Pro's!

I have been working at PowerShop full-time for less than a year
Working here has been life changing not only for me but for many people that I speak with. The team is small so you feel like you really know everyone. Constructive criticism and feedback is... acted on when given; regular feedback opportunities and surveys with results communicated back. Regular development opportunities and new jobs becoming available. Clear channels of communication between everyone in the business. Customer Service, Operations, Managment and all other teams spend time together socially and in the work environment. Genuine care for colleagues. Very versitile - currently working from home due to COVID-19 pandemic and nothing has changed too much.
Still feels like a new company at times; some key foundations of the operational day to day are noticeably missing. Salary is basic for customer facing staff. Lower than industry averages.
Advice to Management
Keep up the communications and conversations with front line staff. Look at ways to effectively build more solid operational processes that don't change every few weeks.
