Current Employee - PhD Researcher

I have been working at University of Glasgow full-time

Pros

Good experience, great place to study and good working environment

Cons

The extension to research work/studies should be provided with funding for the period of extension.

Current Employee - Human Resources Adviser

I have been working at University of Derby UK full-time

Pros

I found the recruitment and onboarding experience very straightforward. The recruitment software worked smoothly to allow me to check the status of my application and the staff were helpful with any... questions I had. I was pleasantly surprised to be contacted before starting by IT to help me get my user accounts and access set up ready for my first day which I really appreciated. My team have been very welcoming and taken an interest in helping me settle in and feel comfortable. I do not have a background in higher education or the university sector so lots to learn from them. The salary and benefits system is very clear and I believe the salary for my role was competitive compared to other similar local job offers I had secured. Useful set of online training courses provided to help me familiarise myself with the university and their expectations of new starters. All in all my first impressions settling in are quite favourable and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues.

Cons

I do not really have any cons what so ever on joining the university at this time.
