Most people I worked with at the FCA were genuinely interested in improving the UK financial system. The quality of staff is variable (of course) but the good ones are brilliant and could walk into... top City roles getting paid far more. Genuine efforts to improve diversity and equality.
If you really care, the volume of work is exhausting. There is a very limited budget so it’s very difficult to attract and retain the best staff. Those employees who have been around the clock and... perhaps lost their mojo are a real drag.
Advice to Management
The mandate of the organisation is so broad that it’s almost impossible to prioritise at times. It would make some sense to split out the Wholesale departments of the organisation and possibly move... them to the Bank of England, leaving the Retail side with greater focus.
